The third-generation GMC Acadia premiered at the 2023 Detroit Auto Show (Sep 13, 2023 – Sun, Sep 24, 2023), entering the market for the 2024 model year with updated styling, increased exterior dimensions, a more spacious cabin, and advanced tech features. Notably, GM aims to attract more female buyers with the 2024 GMC Acadia, as revealed by GMC Acadia Marketing Manager Katherine Weber during a recent interview.

Weber shared insights into the changes, emphasizing that the all-new 2024 GMC Acadia boasts longer, wider, and taller exterior dimensions. Compared to the previous 2023 model year, the 2024 Acadia features an 8.4-inch longer wheelbase, a 10.6-inch longer overall length, and a 3.2-inch taller overall height.

Interestingly, these new dimensions return the Acadia to its full-size crossover roots, aligning with the size of the first-generation Acadia. The second generation downsized to a midsize model. When questioned about surprising demographics related to the varying sizes across Acadia’s generations, Weber noted that while nothing was unexpected, GM aims for the new third-generation 2024 GMC Acadia “to really appeal to the female drivers.”

The Acadia’s assembly brethren, the new Chevrolet Traverse, were historically favored by female buyers. However, with the launch of the all-new 2024 model year, especially with the introduction of the new Z71 trim level, the Traverse is anticipated to draw more male buyers. As a reminder, the 2024 GMC Acadia comes equipped with the standard turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine, as initially reported by GM Authority. The four-cylinder pairs with the GM eight-speed automatic transmission, and the GM C1 platform serves as the foundation for the Acadia, with production taking place at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant.
