White GMC Acadia SUV Water Rocks

The 2024 GMC Acadia is turning into a Back Street Boys song as it grows ‘larger than life.’ As a matter of fact, the SUV offers a more truck-like appearance compared to its predecessor; let’s take a look.

The Interior of the 2024 GMC Acadia

The 2024 GMC Acadia has a more spacious interior than the previous model (2023 GMC Acadia). The center console has expanded to provide more storage space, and the shift buttons have moved to a column-mounted shifter, freeing up more room underneath the console.

Furthermore, the vehicle has a standard 11.0-inch digital gauge cluster and a 15.0-inch touchscreen. The infotainment system is Google-based and features customizable screens and available apps. The center display also has static HVAC controls with a mix of touch functions and toggle switches.

The GMC Acadia is packed with numerous safety features that provide advanced driver-assistance technology; most of these features come as standard. The SUV includes adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assist, blind-spot monitoring, detection systems for pedestrians and bicyclists, automated emergency braking that works even at intersections, and up to nine exterior camera views. Furthermore, the GMC Super Cruise hands-free driver-assist system is now available on the Elevation and AT4 trims, a first for the Acadia.

The GMC the Acadia Hit a Growth Spurt

The new Acadia has grown by 10.6 inches, making it 204 inches long. However, despite the size increase, it is still half a foot shorter than the full-size GMC Yukon. The car’s wheelbase has also been extended by 8.6 inches, resulting in a more comfortable interior that can easily accommodate all eight passengers. The base-level Acadia Elevation trim has a second-row bench seat and can seat up to eight passengers, while the AT4 and Denali trims have captain’s chairs that limit seating to seven.

The latest Acadia model is more extensive than its predecessor and offers more space for passengers and cargo. As per GMC, the new model provides almost 80 percent more room behind the third row and approximately 36 percent more space with the rearmost seats folded. Although the exact measurements have yet to be disclosed, enthusiasts anticipate that the new generation will have around 23 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row and about 56 cubic feet behind the second. A large storage bin is underneath the load floor, and a spare tire is below that.

The GMC Acadia’s Powertrain

Previously, the Acadia offered two engine options – a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder and a 3.6-liter V6 engine. The four-cylinder engine produced 228 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, while the V6 engine generated 310 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque. However, with the new Acadia, GMC has introduced a turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that is significantly more powerful, producing 328 horsepower and 326 pound-feet of torque. The fuel economy of this new powertrain is yet to be known, as GMC has not released any estimates yet.

The new Acadia has an eight-speed automatic transmission, replacing the previous nine-speed unit. The SUV is available in front- and all-wheel drive options, which can tow up to 5000 pounds. A significant improvement of between 1000 and 1700 pounds compared to the previous model. The AT4 model, designed for off-road use, features an exclusive all-wheel-drive system with a twin-clutch rear axle.

The new Acadia’s AT4 model is slightly taller than other trims by about an inch, making it 3.4 inches taller than the previous generation. The AT4 has unique hardware, such as 18-inch wheels fitted with Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires and a specially tuned suspension. The SUV is ruggedly capable with red front tow hooks, a lower front skid plate, and plastic over-fenders with orange reflectors.

The new Acadia features a Denali trim that is easily recognizable with its glossy black lower body trim and flashy grille, which is now satin instead of chrome. Additionally, the SUV can come equipped with big 22-inch wheels, an upgrade from the previous 20-inch option. The Acadia Denali boasts leather upholstery, laser-etched wood trim, chrome accents, and heated and ventilated front seats. The SUV has a standard 12-speaker Bose stereo, but a 16-speaker version is also available. Furthermore, the panoramic sunroof and second-row heated seats are optional features.

Although GMC has not yet announced the pricing for the upcoming Acadia, it may be available early next year (2024). The American automaker will likely reveal the pricing details closer to the launch date. However, based on previous pricing trends, it is estimated that the base-level Elevation will start at just under $40,000, while the top-of-the-line Denali may cost over $50,000.
