GM’s Super Cruise Designated for Specific Acadia Trims
The 2024 GMC Acadia premiered at the North American International Auto Show last month (September 13-24th, 2023), which looks remarkable. The latest generation of the Acadia boasts a fresh design, more significant exterior dimensions, and new technological features. One of the most essential features of the upcoming GMC SUV is that it will come with GM Super Cruise, an advanced autonomous driving aid. The Super Cruise feature will be available in Elevation and AT4 trims.
As previously mentioned, GM’s Super Cruise is an autonomous driving aid that allows drivers to remove their hands from the steering wheel while driving on highways for extended periods. It’s not surprising that the forthcoming Acadia will offer this feature. However, what’s interesting is that the GMC SUV will make Super Cruise available on lower-end trim levels like the base-level Elevation and the off-road-oriented Acadia AT4. Acting as an optional feature for lower trims is an unusual approach for any automaker, as sophisticated safety aids are typically only found in higher-end trims.
GMC is adopting a new trim-level strategy, and the automaker may be on to something. The Big Red will adopt a similar Y trim level strategy that emulates Cadillac. The system looks to include the base-level Elevation trim at the bottom of the Y, which will branch out into either off-road-oriented trims like the AT4 and AT4X or luxury-oriented trims like the Denali and Denali Ultimate. Additionally, the strategy aims to provide a clearer picture of the trim level cadence compared to the previously more ambiguous trim hierarchy.
More information about the all-new 2024 GMC Acadia includes a longer, wider, and taller body, translating into more interior space. Additionally, the cargo room behind the third row will increase by 80 percent, a significant improvement. As for the engine, the Acadia will roar to life through a turbocharged 2.5L I4 LK0 gasoline engine. Production will begin early next year (2024) at the GM Lansing Delta Township plant.
