GM Confirms the Next Gen 2025 Buick Enclave and GMC Terrain
During the third quarter earnings call (October 2023), GM CEO Mary Barra shared some exciting news about the upcoming models from Buick, Chevrolet, and GMC. According to the Big Red CEO, the next-generation Buick Enclave will arrive in the first half of 2024, accompanied by redesigned versions of the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia.
It’s worth noting that many enthusiasts have already seen the redesigned versions of the Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Acadia. Yet, as for the Buick Enclave, it’s expected to be powered by a new turbocharged 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine that will produce 328 hp (245 kW / 333 PS) and 326 lb-ft (442 Nm) of torque, which is a notable improvement of 18 hp (13 kW / 18 PS) and 60 lb-ft (81 Nm).
Apart from the improved engine, the 2025 Buick Enclave is said to feature an upscale interior with higher-quality materials and a modern design. The impending Enclave will receive a warm welcome thanks to its alteration for those who appreciate a luxurious driving experience. Additionally, the Enclave will reveal a freestanding curved display that includes a digital instrument cluster and an infotainment system.
According to the GM CEO, the redesigned Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia, and Buick Enclave will follow the next-generation Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain. These ICE-powered vehicles will arrive in the middle of 2024.
Although details about the redesigned Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain are scarce, a version of the Equinox was revealed earlier this year (2023) by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. The Chinese Equinox features a more rugged design, similar to the redesigned Traverse. While there’s little known about the Chevrolet Equinox, the US may receive the same model. If so, we expect the redesigned crossover to be slightly larger than its predecessor.
We expect to learn more about the redesigned Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain in the coming months. GM has high hopes for these crossovers as they will be fresh entries in growing segments. According to Barra, these models will be “outstanding products” that will be more comfortable and spacious than their predecessors. Furthermore, the GM CEO also hinted at additional driver assistance systems such as Super Cruise.
While many details are still unknown, Barra did mention that the upcoming crossovers will have a simplified engine lineup and a lot of familiar parts. Roughly 60% of each SUV’s components will be reused, which will help the American automaker reduce complexity and make it easier to manufacture the vehicles. Additionally, GM plans to reduce build combinations by 80-90%, further simplifying the production process.
