The 2023 GMC Canyon Receives a Production Date
The third-generation GMC Canyon is right around the corner, so the 2023 model year is ready to amaze and astound. In addition to embracing a new generation, the 2023 GMC Canyon offers significant refinements and modifications compared to its predecessor, the 2022 GMC Canyon. So it’s officially official, the GMC Canyon received a production start date.
Production for the new GMC Canyon will commence on January 25th, 2023, and assemblage will convene at the General Motors Wentzville plant in Missouri. In addition to the GMC pickup’s production date, the Wentzville factory currently assembles the 2022 GMC Canyon. Moreover, the Wentzville factory also produces the Chevy Colorado, the Chevy Express, and the GMC Savana.
Initially, GMC intended to halt production of the 2022 Canyon by October 14th, 2022. But as of now, GMC has pushed the production date back two months. So now, the 2022 model year Canyon will discontinue by December 23rd, 2022. The Chevy Silverado shares the same production date as the Canyon as well.
Once the 23’ GMC Canyon hits the streets, it is over for the rest of these mediocre pickups. With the Canyon attaining a wealth of alterations, enthusiasts can anticipate a pickup with new exterior styling magnified with new lighting features, a new front fascia, a new rear fascia, and a refreshed wheel design. The GMC Canyon also attains some trim level alterations. So for the 2023 model year, the off-road-ready pickup becomes even more capable with the Canyon AT4X trim. The AT4X trim is a step up from the standard GMC Canyon AT4. Moreover, the Canyon AT4X is the equivalent to Chevy’s Colorado ZR2 (the Colorado ZR2 isn’t as beautiful, though).
Although there are no pictures of the Canyon’s interior, the new pickup will attain an entirely new layout with influences from the recently rejuvenated 2022 GMC Sierra 1500. The Canyon’s reimagined interior will feature a new infotainment system, new switchgear, new shifter, new starter, new center stack, and so much more. Moreover, GM’s semi-autonomous driver assist system Super Cruise may become available for the new pickup.
Pop the hood on the 2023 GMC Canyon, and there is only one powertrain option, the turbocharged 2.7-liter inline-4 L3B gas engine. The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 also harbors the same powertrain, generating 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.
