GMC Hummer EV Reservations Come to a Close

The time has come for General Motors to seal reservations for the GMC Hummer EV SUV and Pickup. The “Crab Walking” duo accepted over 90,000 reservations before closing the order bank last Wednesday, September 21, 2022. 

With reservation orders ending, General Motors has enough wiggle room to satisfy the current list of confirmed Hummer EVs. In addition, the reservations will assure the Wildcat automaker is busy well into 2024. Moreover, the enormous GMC Hummer’s starting price ranges from $85,000 to $111,000. 

On Thursday, September 22, 2022, GM officially locked reservations for the electric pickup and SUV. So anyone searching around to get behind the wheel of the electric SUV or pickup must wait for the Hummer EV 2X model. Moreover, the Hummer EV 2X will begin its reservations in time for the Spring of 2023. 

The American automaker has progressively ramped up the assemblage of the electric Hummer pickup back in early 2022. Yet, shockingly, General Motors barely managed to sell 400 Hummers by the end of June (2022). Nevertheless, the all-electric SUV will find its way inside dealerships and arrive to Hummer enthusiasts by early 2023. 

Duncan Aldred, Global Head of GMC, said that production of the Hummer SUV would happen more quickly than the assemblage of the pickup. Regardless, the Hummer pickup variation of the rejuvenated icon was the first to reveal GM’s Ultium batteries and vehicle platform. 

“We knew it would be a slow ramp. But next year, when you look at the calendar year, I think you’ll see a normalized year. When we produce SUVs, that should get into stride right away. Next year is a big year for Hummer EV, both truck and SUV.”
