It’s a Family Feud the 2023 Buick Encore GX and Envista Go at it

Buick is a renowned luxury brand recently introducing a new small crossover to its SUV lineup, the Envista. Already the all-new crossover is revealing itself to be tough competition to one of its popular models, the Encore GX. Let’s dive into the features and specifications of the 2024 Buick Encore GX and Buick Envista.

Powertrain and Performance 

Both Buick SUVs have a 1.2-liter three-cylinder turbocharged engine that generates 136 hp for the Envista and 137 hp for the Encore GX (talk about a leg on the competition). The Envista and Encore GX produce 162 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, the Envista has a six-speed automatic transmission, while its counterpart features a continuously variable transmission.

The Buick Envista can achieve a speed of 60 mph in less than 9.5 seconds. At the same time, the Encore GX, which has a similar powertrain, has slightly faster acceleration achieving 60 mph in just 9.2 seconds. Furthermore, the Encore GX offers front-wheel drive as standard, while all-wheel drive is available for an additional $2,000 on all trims. On the other hand, the Envista only has front-wheel drive.

Fuel Economy 

There is a slight variation in the EPA-estimated fuel economy ratings between the Buick SUVs. The Envista achieves 28 mpg within the city and 32 mpg on highways. Meanwhile, the Encore GX has a two mpg advantage in the city but the same highway rating as its counterpart. Both SUVs have a 13.2-gallon gas tank. According to Buick, the Encore GX can travel from 396 to 409 miles when the tank is full, while the Envista’s range is up to 396 miles.

Cargo and Seating Capacity 

The compact Buicks can accommodate five passengers and have similar interior dimensions. In the front, the Encore GX offers 39.7 inches of headroom, 40.9 inches of legroom, and 55.4 inches of shoulder room. In the back row, the more seasoned crossover provides 38.1 inches of headroom, 36 inches of legroom, and 53.6 inches of shoulder space.

The 2024 Buick Envista provides ample space with 39.4 inches of headroom, 41.9 inches of legroom, and 56 inches of shoulder space in the front. At the rear of the cabin, there is also generous space with 38.7 inches of headroom, 54.5 inches of legroom, and 54.5 inches of shoulder room.

The Envista SUV has 20.7 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear row, which increases to 42 cubic feet when those seats are folded down. However, the Buick Encore GX has even more storage capacity, with 23.5 cubic feet behind the rear row and 50.2 cubic feet when those seats are folded.

The 2024 Buick Envista and Encore GX share many similarities, but the Encore GX might have the upper hand because of its experience. The Buick Encore GX features an all-wheel drive, a slightly more powerful engine, and more storage space.
