Buick Electra E5 Features Revealed
Recent previews revealed a slick-designed Buick SUV, soon known as the Electra E5. First, the automaker unveiled the SUV in China, and now the Crossover is exclusive to their market. The Electra E5 is GMs first electric EV to employ the Ultium platform. In addition, to General Motors’ Ultium platform, the vehicle is available with two and all-wheel drive thanks to single- and dual-motors setups. Buick enthusiasts may select from 68- and 80-kWh batteries. Furthermore, fans may treat themselves to the range-topping Avenir trim.
The Buick Electra E5 may be savored in five different flavors, starting with the Range model, which yields 241 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque, throttling from 0 to 62 mph in under 8 seconds. Although the Standard Range model has the most miniature batteries, long-distance travel is a breeze offering 339 miles in the CTLC cycle (China Light Duty Cycle).
Surprisingly enough, the Long Range model has a less powerful electric motor rated at 201 horsepower, deriving its energy from its larger battery pack. The Long Range E5 propels from 0 to 62 mph in 8.6 seconds and covers 385 miles on a single charge.
The Standard and Long Range Electra E5 are available in the Enjoy trim level with equal output and range. However, the Avenir trim rests comfortably at the top of the premium food chain with a dual-motor configuration that offers 283 horsepower and 343 lb-ft of torque. The Avenir propels to 62 mph from 0 in under seven seconds while employing a larger battery that lasts up to 375 miles before recharging. Furthermore, it takes less than 30 minutes to recharge the E5 Avenir’s battery from 30 to 80 percent.
Let’s not forget the Buick Electra E5 stretches to 192.6 inches and holds a comfy wheelbase that extends to 116.3 inches. The crossover EV is 75 inches wide and 66.3 inches tall. The Buick SUVs’ dimensions place the vehicle between the Envision and Enclave. Nonetheless, it’s worth mentioning that Buick also offers an Encision Plus that’s nearly as long as the Electra E5.
Pricing for the Buick Electra E5 Standard Range begins at 208,000 yuan or close to $30,500, and the Avenir touches $40,700. In addition, the automaker intends to unleash a second iteration of the Ultium-based EV in China by mid-2023. However, the second platform may support the Electra E4 spotted cruising around the US before the close of 2022.
