A Look at the New 2022 Buick Encore

The 2022 Buick Encore is the tenth model year in the first iteration of the Encore. The Encore initially hit the market in 2012 with an offering for the 2013 model year. Here’s a look at what the 2022 subcompact crossover has to offer:

To start, the base Encore (1SV) is no longer, so the Preferred is the only trim level. This assembly alteration comes as no surprise automakers around the world look to maximize return and reduce complexity.   

Exterior

The 2022 Buick Encore doesn’t receive any alterations to the exterior, so the exterior colors remain as follows:

The Encore yields two types of aluminum 18-inch wheels. Premiering standard is the multi-spoke unit completed in Technical Gray pockets. The Encore’s alternative aluminum wheel is a dealer-installation option holding a five-spoke design and Midnight Silver finish. 

Interior   

Once inside, Encore champions realize the flat-folding passenger seatback is no longer, but that’s because the seat back map pocket is the new standard for the driver and front passenger seat backs. 

The new electric heater and defroster appear standard, in addition to the outside temperature sensor. The electric heater warms the cockpit at lightning speeds in those blistering winds because it doesn’t rely on the engine’s heat. Inside the Encore, a cozier cabin awaits because the electric heater replaces the conventional heater core system. 

Mechanical

Pop the hood, and the turbocharged 1.4L LUV engine is no longer in thanks to the newer 1.4L LE2 engine. Initially, the 1.4L LUV provided 138 horsepower and 148 lb-ft of torque, while the LE2 bolsters 155 horsepower and 177 lb-ft, an increase of 17 horsepower and 29 lb-ft of torque. Furthermore, the engine block heater replaces the oil pan heater. 

Attainability 

The 2022 Buick Encore originates from GM Korea at the Bupyeong factory in South Korea, but the 2022 Encore is already available throughout the US. 

The 2022 or 2023 model is likely the final installment for the Encore, and the Encore GX is more than ready to fill some pretty big shoes as sales volume continues to rise.
