2022 Buick Encore GX
The 2022 Buick Encore provides an upscale appearance and a curvy body frame to match its luxury. The 2022 Encore is the smallest crossover in the segment. Yet, after some quality time inside the crossover’s cabin, enthusiasts would assume the crossover is anything but small. Furthermore, once the Encore’s seats are folded down, the compact crossover reveals a decent amount of cargo holding space.
However, if the 2022 Buick Encore is too small, step up the luxury ladder to the Encore GX. The 2022 Buick Encore GX is slightly larger and more refined than the Encore. With respectable acceleration and firm handling, the Encore GX makes for one smooth ride. Moreover, the 2022 Encore GX unleashes a rainbow of exterior colors such as Sunset Glow Metallic, Rosewood Metallic, Cinnabar Metallic, and Sapphire Metallic.
1.3 L 3-Cylinder
For the 2022 model year, Buick removed the Encore’s base model, so the small crossover may only be had in the Preferred trim for front-wheel drive and Preferred AWD (all-wheel drive). The 2022 Buick Encore Preferred trim features 18-inch wheels, Halogen headlights, keyless entry with push button start, leather-wrapped steering wheel, six-speaker audio system, satellite radio, and Wi-Fi Hotspot.
The 2022 Buick Encore GX is available in three trim levels: Preferred, Select, and Essence. The Encore GX’s Preferred trim comes standard with alloy wheels, heated mirrors, keyless entry, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and cloth/leather mixed upholstery. The Select trim adds to the Preferred standard features with the cold weather comfort package, roof rails, dual-zone automatic climate control, rear armrest, and blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert. Finally, the Essence is the top trim for the Encore GX. The Essence trims standard features include LED headlights, air ionizer, auto-dimming rear-view mirrors, heated steering wheel, driver’s seat memory settings, power-adjustable passenger seat, and leather upholstery.
The 2022 Buick Encore is powered by the new 1.4-liter turbo inline-three, which generates 155 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. Compared to the 2021 Buick Encore, the 2022 model year attains a 17 horsepower and 29 lb-ft of torque increase. The six-speed automatic and front-wheel-drive come standard for the Encore. However, all-wheel-drive is optional for the Encore.
The Buick Encore GX generates power from two different turbocharged three-cylinder engines. The first engine is the base 1.2-liter paired to a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT), and it forges 137 horsepower. Then there’s the 1.3-liter turbocharged three-cylinder engine which is standard for the Essence trim or any model equipped with an all-wheel drive. Additionally, the 1.3-liter three-cylinder engine yields 155 horsepower and 174 lb-ft of torque. Moreover, the 1.3-liter engine comes paired to a CVT on front-wheel drive models, whereas the all-wheel drive variations attain a nine-speed automatic transmission.
Even though the Buick Encore sports a compact body, the crossover’s cabin says otherwise. The armrest and dash pad feature a soft-touch section that delivers a luxurious atmosphere. Additionally, the flush-mounted infotainment system and vibrantly animated background accents heighten the Encore’s luxury appeal. Fortunately, luxury does not mean complicated, and the Encore embodies these sentiments perfectly with a front-seat layout that holds simple knobs for climate control. Furthermore, the Encore reveals high seating and a satisfying driving position.
The Buick Encore GX’s tranquil cabin features leather upholstery, heated seats, and more passenger space than the already ample Buick Encore. Additionally, the Encore GX’s front passenger seats fold flat to assist loading and unloading longer items.
The front-wheel drive Encore generates an EPA-estimated rating of 25 mpg for the city and 30 mpg on the highway. The all-wheel drive Buick Encore holds an EPA-estimated rating of 24 mpg for the city and 29 mpg on the highway.
The Buick Encore GX’s 1.3-liter holds an EPA rating of 32 mpg highway through front-wheel drive. At the same time, the 1.2-liter turbocharged engine earns an EPA rating of 30 mpg. However, if the Encore GX is equipped with all-wheel-drive and the nine-speed automatic, the crossover delivers 29 mpg.
The Buick Encore harbors a ton of tech goodies, such as a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system known as IntelliLink. Additionally, the IntelliLink features Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and 4G LTE data connection for WiFi Hotspot. Furthermore, there is a six-speaker audio system with SiriusXM satellite radio. However, Bose’s premium audio setup that includes seven speakers is optional.
The Encore GX offers everything the Encore does, except enthusiasts, have the option to attain a head-up display and also the option to select a high-definition 360-degree camera as well.
