2021 Buick Envision

Buick makes a bold move with the release of the 2021 Buick Envision in an effort to stay modern and stylish in the midst of strong competition. Buick’s compact SUV platform has received backlash from critics and automotive insiders because it will be built in China and exported to the U.S., a cost-saving strategy that has garnered the Buick brand an increase in its profit margin. But despite its criticism, there is good news, the new Buick Envision receives an aggressive luxury makeover by utilizing the Cadillac’s XT4 platform for its chassis. This design strategy, according to Buick has achieved better exterior styling proportions, which allows the wheels to be pushed more outward to the corners giving the Buick Envision a wider stance. Buick is trying to make a statement by delivering to the U.S. market a compact luxury SUV that will appeal to willing buyers and that won’t break the bank at the same time, with a starting base price of $32,955 plus applicable destination fees.

Details and Overview

Competing in the luxury compact SUV segment is a challenge for Buick as the brand is up against strong competitors like Audi, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. But the new Buick Envision punches above its class with luxury styling mixed with the affordable price of a mainstream family SUV that makes it an attractive offering to prospective buyers. In addition, its more direct competition is with SUVs that are more in its class like the Acura RDX, the Infiniti QX50, and the Lincoln Corsair. For starters, the 2021 Buick Envision comes with a 228 hp turbocharged 2.0 L engine for all trim levels and is connected to a nine-speed automatic transmission. For the car buyer that values standard features, there are plenty of them, these include automatic high-beams, automated emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane-keeping assist. Opting for the high-end Avenir trim offers drivers a luxurious interior with diamond-quilted leather seats, wireless smartphone charging, and a driver’s seat with massage functionality.

New Design for 2021

For the 2021 model year, the Buick Envision is redesigned and offers a confident, eye-catching design that is bolder and meaner than the outgoing model. For an extra sporty feel, there is an available Sport Touring Package that adds 20-inch wheels and a darkened exterior trim. For prospective buyers that seek the very best of the Buick Envision with all its features, the Avenir trim will be a great choice.

For heavy phone users, Buick provides 4G LTE Wi-Fi hotspot as standard along with SiriusXM satellite radio, a six-speaker radio, and a noise-cancellation system. But there is an optional Technology package that offers a nine-speaker setup by Bose. Drivers can also benefit from in-dash navigation and a rearview camera mirror that provides a wide and less-obstructed view behind the vehicle.
