The Tease Continues for the Buick Electra-X

Buick China released a few more teaser photos to add to the collection of taunts for the upcoming all-electric concept, the Electra-X. The Electra-X is the automaker’s first attempt at an electric SUV concept, and its development comes to life on General Motors’s Ultium platform. 

The new teaser photos display what may be a more assembly-line ready variation of the Buick Electra Concept we revealed in 2020. However, this isn’t confirmation, just speculation because of the Buick concept’s name and because it is an electric SUV. 

In June (2022), China will welcome the Electra concept at the upcoming Buick China Brand Day. Buick also stated that the new concept vehicle symbolizes the automaker’s accelerated efforts toward intelligent driving. 

Back in the states at Buick USA, there is no mention of an Electra-X. So it’s most likely that the US will receive a different concept vehicle than China. Moreover, Buick USA may inherit an electric concept tailored explicitly to its market. 

“The Electra-X concept takes Buick’s innovative thinking and imagination of future electric mobility to the next level. It is designed to provide a safer, smarter and more desirable EV experience, building on Buick’s deep understanding and insights of local consumers toward electrification and intelligent driving.” – Buick China 

Buick China mentioned that the Buick Electra-X is “defined by the brands’ all-new design language. It will feature “distinct and forward-looking styling, along with an airy interior.” 

Some quality time with the Electra-X teaser photos, and enthusiasts can appreciate the slim and slender horizontal LED headlights, a commanding front end with a grille-like panel concealed behind its pointy nose. In addition to the Electra’s sharp nose, the concept vehicle wears subtle side cameras instead of rearview mirrors and A-pillars with stripes located at the lower half. 

Aside from the Ultium platform, Buick China affirms that the Electra-X Concept premieres leading innovations like the Virtual Cockpit System and Super Cruise driver-assist technology.
