General Motors makes farewell preparations for the 2022 GMC Canyon, with a premium redesign for the 2023 model year. The new midsize pickup will include the all-new off-road AT4X trim. Further, the Canyon AT4X will expand the pickup’s pricing range.

The AT4X trim will premier off-road performance enhancement features plus an unparalleled interior and exterior styling. Additionally, the off-road trim will launch in conjunction with the standard AT4 off-road pickup, premium Denali trim, and the base trim, the Elevation. The Canyon Elevation trim will commence with a starting price of around $40,000. In addition, General Motors will offer the “AT4X Edition 1,” a limited-edition trim for the first year of production. Moreover, the Edition 1 holds a starting price of $63,350.

In late 2018, General Motors offered AT4 trims for the full-size Sierra pickup. Since then, AT4 variations have spread out across the entire GMC lineup. As a matter of fact, the AT4 trim accounts for 33% of the Canyon’s sales.

Enthusiasts familiar with the Chevrolet Colorado recognize its uncanny resemblance to the Canyon. However, for the 2023 model year, GM has differentiated the designs of both midsize pickups immensely. However, some things remain the same for the midsize pickup siblings. For instance, the Chevrolet Colorado and Canyon share the same platform and chassis. Furthermore, both pickups come to life through a 2.7-liter 4-cylinder engine that forges 310 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque.

General Motors will initiate production of the 2023 Canyon at the beginning of 2023. Additionally, the Canyon AT4X will begin production in the spring of 2023. GM also opened reservations for the AT4X Edition 1 at the beginning of August (2022).

For the 2023 model year, the Canyon reveals a higher and wider body than its predecessor (2022 GMC Canyon). In addition, the midsize pickup’s exterior is more extended, but the interior space remains the same. As a result, the new GMC Canyon appeals more assertive than the 2022 variation of the midsize pickup. Furthermore, the 2023 model features a large rectangular grille and a refresh of the automaker’s signature C-shaped front lights.
