The 2023 GMC Canyon Receives AT4X Model

The GMC Canyon is a mid-size pickup in desperate need of a refresh, but thank goodness the new 2023 Canyon debuts this summer (2022). With the release of the newly refined Canyon model comes a new trim designed with the hardcore off-roader in mind, the AT4X model. This isn’t the AT4X trims’ first time with GMC, the trim was a recent addition to the Canyon’s big brother, the full-sized Sierra. 

The Canyon will force competitors like the Chevy Colorado ZR2, Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro, Jeep Gladiator Rubicon, and Ford Ranger Raptor into early retirement. 

Presently, General Motors produces the Canyon AT4, notice how it’s not the AT4X. Additionally, the Canyon AT4 features Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac tires, a special off-road-tuned suspension, a locking rear differential, and a skid plate for the vehicle’s transfer case. 

With the addition of the AT4X, the mid-size pickup will premiere even more off-road capabilities with a ton of bell whistles. Although GMC has yet to reveal the new specs for the AT4X, we anticipate the off-road-ready Canyon to inherit some inspiration from the Colorado ZR2. A few of the features the AT4X may inherit include multimatic spool-valve damper, locking front and rear differentials, Goodyear Wrangler Territory all-terrain tires, and a wider stance for increased clearance. 

Furthermore, the 2023 GMC Canyon will premiere a whole new appeal. The only picture we’ve found of the mid-size pickup is a teaser image. The teaser image displays the left side of the truck with its AT4X badging, rock rails, and a single 17-inch bead-lock-capable wheel.
