Next Round of GMC Hummer EV Reservations Slated for 2024
Revitalized and better than ever, the all-new GMC Hummer is back with a luxurious electric twist. The all-electric SUV or pickup has surpassed its projections. As a result, pressure for the GMC Hummer EV has boiled over to an all-time high. Expectations are so immense for the monstrous EV that GM had to seal reservations. Furthermore, reservations for the electric Hummer surpassed 90,000 orders.
Initially, General Motors delivered 783 orders of the electric SUV and pickup from December (2021) to September (2022). So now, the automotive General has over 89,000 remaining reservation orders.
However, even with a production ramp-up, the Crab-Walking Hummer’s wait times are longer than anticipated. Duncan Aldred, the Global Vice President of General Motors, confirmed that the Hummer EVs are “sold out for two years or more.”
Yet, enthusiasts are left to ponder, did the American automaker bite off more than it could handle? So, let’s consider the Hummer EV reservations evolve into orders; this would mean the automotive General would need to assemble 45,000 pickups and SUVs annually. Nevertheless, it has yet to be determined whether or not General Motors will be able to create as many electric cars in 2023.
As of now, GM has completed 2,570 units of the all-electric Hummer. The fantastic news is that the SUV and pickup assemblage has cranked up since September (2022). For instance, General Motors constructed a record high of 750 vehicles. If the automotive General sustains this production rate, it will produce 9,000 Hummer EVs annually. So, production output would be outstanding, but more grind is required to fulfill demand.
Sometime shortly, by mid-November or early December (2022), GM’s Factory Zero plant in Michigan will suspend production for several weeks. The production standstill is necessary for the American automaker to make the essential upgrades to produce the forthcoming Chevrolet Silverado EV. Moreover, the construction of Ultium’s lithium-ion batteries will commence in Ohio before the year ends (2022).
