A Look at the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited
The 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited is the fourth installment in the fourth generation of the light-duty pickup. With the latest installment come some noticeable differences.
To begin, the new Sierra Limited is the polar opposite of the refined 2022 GMC Sierra. But, ultimately, the Limited is the bridge between the 2021 GMC Sierra and the 2022 model. The Sierra Limited exists because the pandemic is a trying time. COVID put a lot of promising futures on pause and eventually delayed the production of the 2022 GMC Sierra. However, even in this trying time, that doesn’t stop GMC from delivering pristine quality.
With that said, here’s a look at the 2022 GMC Sierra 1500 Limited.
For starters, the base Sierra trim received a new name, and it is now the Pro. The trim levels are as follows.
Pricing
Trim Levels | Pricing (MSRP) |
Pro |
$31,200* |
SLE | $42,400* |
Elevation | $44,100* |
SLT | $48,500* |
AT4 | $56,800* |
Denali | $56,800* |
*Does not include tax or destination fees
Interior
There are three alterations to the Sierra 1500 Limited’s interior. The first alteration is the removal of the HD Radio, an option once available on models: SLE, Elevation 3SB, SLT, AT4, and Denali. The second removal is the single-zone manual air conditioning unit. The single-zone, semi-automatic air condition is standard on the Pro (base) models. Lastly, heating for the rear outbound seats is now optional for the SLT, AT4, and Denali trim levels.
Pop the Hood
The Limited receives a 2.7L L3B Turbo I4 engine, a new standard for the Pro. Additionally, the 5.3L EcoTec3 L84 V8 engine is optional for the Pro model, but, unfortunately, it is no longer available to the AT4. Instead, the new off-road-oriented AT4 receives the Duramax Turbo-Diesel 3.0L LM2 I6 engine that comes standard.
Other mechanical enhancements include a heavy-duty 730 cold-cranking amp battery, standard for the Pro. Additionally, the AT4 gallops to life on the standard Goodyear Wrangler DuraTrac Mud Terrain tires compared to the 2021 Sierra AT4 with just all-terrain tires.
Availability
Production for the 2022 Sierra Limited commenced in Indiana and Mexico at the Fort Wayne Assembly and GM Silao plant in the fall (September 2021). The Limited will remain in production until the 2022 Sierra 1500 is ready for the same fate in the Spring of 2022.
The fourth-generation GMC Sierra will remain in production until 2025.
